Mayor Diane Therrien

Diane has always been interested in politics and how decisions impact our every day lives. Diane received her undergrated degree at McMaster University. After graduation she worked at De dwa de dehs nye>s Aboriginal Health Centre as part of an innovative research team collecting data about urban First Nations people.

In 2010, Diane moved to Peterborough to complete her MA in Canadian and Indigenous studies at Trent University.

Diane has experience in the private, public, and non-profit sectors, and has worked for the former Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs, the Peterborough Poverty Reduction Network,  the YWCA of Peterborough Haliburton,  and Trent University.

She was first elected to City Council in 2014 to represent Ward 3 (Town Ward), and in 2018 she was elected Mayor of Peterborough, the youngest person to be elected to the office.

Diane lives in Peterborough with her partner, 2 rescue dogs, and a sassy senior cat.
